many of the hammocks had beautiful embroidering, and were clearly a possession of pride and individuality, and served not only for sleeping but also for eating, chatting, reading, playing cards and many other activities. each persons luggage is stored directly beneath their hammock, leaving little room for foot traffic along naturally emerged paths.
